If you visit this site with any frequency (which would be a surprise to me), you know that I haven’t been very consistent lately. There are always a whole list of reasons but it all boils down to not taking the time to type something out.

I haven’t flown since the end of October. That was the last time that the weather was reasonably nice and my airplane was airworthy. My aircraft annual inspection was due at the end of November. I managed to get in half-way through completing the inspection during November and then the weather turned so cold I couldn’t work in the hangar (not insulated nor heated).
If you have been following the weather out here in the mountains of Northern Nevada you have seen reports of record snowfall. I just finished plowing the driveway for the third day in a row… again (yes, I meant another 3-day period of daily snowfalls). The snow blower has generated a 6’+ pile along the side of the driveway. It appears that, for now, the snow has stopped. Unfortunately, we are now forecast to have temperatures in the 50s and rain off and on for the next week.
I’m hoping that I can get back to the annual inspection by the end of the month. I mean, March 20th is the official first day of Spring, right? Somebody please remind whoever is in charge of the weather now.
I have for the past year or two been splitting my website time between this site and a site I was building to provide online aviation training that would complement in-person flight and simulator training. I have decided for personal/insurance reasons to abandon that project and have moved a half dozen or so articles from that site to this one. I have completed the business shutdown process effective at the end of this month. So, I expect to have more time to type here.
